Tenant and Resident Surveys

A significant area of our work includes preparing, carrying out and analyzing surveys of tenants, residents and leaseholders for both local authorities and housing associations.

We provide detailed and customized survey questionnaires that allow our clients to cross reference and collate information on:

Unlike many operating in this field we can offer clients a service that covers 100% of their stock at affordable prices using postal surveys, door to door interviews, telephone contact and use of e-mail.

We also have experience of setting up properly representative residents forums in both a single locality or across several local authority areas.

Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames

For this client we carried out data analysis and formatted it into a report showing the views of over 7000 tenants and leaseholders about a wide range of issues concerning their housing and immediate environment.

Barnsbury Housing Association

We have carried out two separate tenant surveys for Barnsbury Housing Association.

In 2001 we provided them with a 100% postal survey followed by selected door to door interviews. We achieved a 45% reply rate over a 4 week period.

In 2005 we repeated this approach and also administered on their behalf a tenant ballot for the election of two tenant representatives to the Barnsbury HA management committee.

On both occasions we designed the forms required, analysed all the returned data and provided a formal report at the conclusion of the work.

Griffin Housing Group

Our work for Griffin Housing Group involved devising appropriate survey forms for both tenants and leaseholders and delivering them to locations in 7 different local authorities across a wide geographical area.

We obtained a 36% reply rate. We then carried out complex data analysis to show the views of the respondents by tenure and by local authority. We also provided Griffin Housing Group with a list of respondents who would be happy to be part of a group of residents consulted on a regular basis by the landlord via an e-mail link to discern their views on all future management issues.

The Guinness Trust

A particularly significant piece of work for us arose when we were asked to carry out nearly 1000 door to door interviews by Clapton Community Housing Trust – a subsidiary of the Guinness Trust.

Clapton Community Housing Trust were established to manage and modernize 4 1930's housing estates in Hackney that had voted to transfer to the Guinness Trust following a tenant and leaseholder ballot.

We visited all the tenants and leaseholders and asked their preferences about the proposed modernization works as well as confirming their specific decanting requirements.

We achieved a satisfactory reply rate and finished the work within 10 weeks.
